Who are these people?

 Brian Madden

Brian Madden is an independent technology analyst, author, and thinker. He's written several books and hundreds of articles about desktop and application virtualization technologies.

Brian is still living the "virtual" lifestyle. He currently has an apartment in New York City, although he's moving to San Francisco in September.

 Ron Oglesby

Ron is Director of Technical Architecture for RapidApp in Chicago. As the senior RapidApp Technical Architect he is responsible for the oversight and development of all RapidApp-coordinated designs, plans, and deployments. Ron has been published in several industry magazines and is the co-author several books including CCA Study Guide for MetaFrame XP, Terminal Services for Microsoft Windows Server 2003, and VMware ESX Server: Advanced Technical Design Guide. In addition Ron has been recognized by Microsoft as one of 13 worldwide Terminal Server MVPs. (website)


 Gabe Knuth

Gabe Knuth is an Omaha-based technical analyst for The Brian Madden Company. He focuses on the technical side of the various server-based computing products in the industry. Gabe began working with Windows-based products and Citrix in 1998 while working for a national consulting firm. Since then he has worked in a variety of different industries, including healthcare, financial, insurance, and logistics, focusing on Active Directory and server based computing. (website)


 Jeroen van de Kamp

As Chief Technology Officer, Jeroen van de Kamp is responsible for defining and executing the technical strategy for Login Consultants, a widely recognized international virtualization consultancy firm based in USA and Europe.

He has developed several core solutions which allow Login Consultants to easily differentiate themselves in the virtualization consulting market. Examples of these are Infrastructure 2.0 and Solution4; this is the unconventional strategies and maintenance principles for virtualization services in high density data centers. Jeroen is also responsible for several well-known publications like Login Virtual Session Indexer, Flex Profile Kit, TCT templates and others.

Because of his contribution to the technical community Van de Kamp is recognized as a thought-leader in the application delivery industry and has become a residential speaker for virtualization seminars like BriForum, Citrix events and many others. He is one of the 25 members worldwide who participate in the "Citrix Technology Professional" program.

Jeroen is still engaged with strategic key accounts for Login Consultants, defining and realizing an strategy for the application, desktop and server virtualization infrastructure.

 Thomas Kötzing

Thomas has been working with Citrix products since 1998 as a system administrator, consultant, and freelancer. Since March 2006 he has been an independent freelancer for Server Based Computing and virtualization. In previous jobs he was responsible for the worldwide Exchange system, central Backup, and data center virtualization. Even though Thomas works in the IT industry, he has a bachelor degree in mechanical engineering.

In 2003, Thomas started posting in the official Citrix support forums with the alias “CITRIX4GE” and very quickly became one of the top posters. Later on launched the website http://www.CITRIX4GE.de as a response to forum requests and moved to ThomasKoetzing.de in the February 2006. His website is famous for Citrix / Terminal Server FAQ and Web Interface customizations.

Citrix invited Thomas to speak at the “Citrix Support & Engineering Institute of Technology” (CSEIT) in October 2004. He also presented at BriForum 2005/2006, PubForum 2005, SBC Solution Forum 2005 and at the Citrix User Group Norway 2006. Thomas has also written several articles posted on BrianMadden.com as well on his own new domain ThomasKoetzing.de. In July 2006 Microsoft awarded Thomas as a Most Valuable Professional (MVP) for Terminal Server and in the same month Thomas was also awarded as Citrix Technology Professional (CTP). (website)


 Rick Mack

Rick Mack has spent the last 20 years working full-time in the computer industry since gaining his PhD in medical research. His computer industry experience has ranged from designing and building minicomputers, to high-level support of VAX/VMS, Unix, X11, communications and finally Windows terminal services. He has been working with server-based computing for over 13 years and has been active in various community forums for over 10 years. (website)


 Bernhard Tritsch

Bernhard Tritsch is Chief IT Architect at Login Consultants, a leading IT infrastructure consulting firm in the field of access, virtualization and deployment. In addition to this role, he is a Microsoft MVP, a Citrix CTP, and author of 'Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Terminal Services' from Microsoft Press.  Tim Mangan

Tim Mangan is the founder of TMurgent Technologies, a consulting and software development company he started in 2002 that is based in Massachusetts. Mr. Mangan has twenty-five years of experience developing hardware and software products for both the Enterprise and Service Providers. He also has considerable experience in taking complex technical problems and explaining them in concise, and understandable, forms. His White Papers on HyperThreading ("Should you enable HyperThreading on Server 2003") and Server Performance ("Perceived Performance") are examples of well researched and written independent papers. He has also been published in technical trade journals, such as the "International Journal of Network Management" on topics such as "Using Frame Relay as a VPN" to techniques to overcome internet latency using non TCP-based protocols ("Networking lessons in delivering Software as a Service"). He also has been a speaker at numerous international conferences on a wide variety of topics, including previous BriForums in 2005, 2006, and 2007. Mr. Mangan was awarded a Microsoft MVP in 2007.  Kevin Goodman

Kevin Goodman is the CEO and founder of RTO Software and has over 20 years of experience in the computer software industry. Mr. Goodman is the author of Windows NT: A Developer's Guide, Building Windows 95 Applications, and several articles for Microsoft Systems Journal, Windows Tech Journal and NT Developer. He holds patents for improving the scalability of computer systems and has several other patents pending. Prior to RTO he worked in a variety of development roles for Softblox, DCA, Automated Design Systems and WestCorp Software Systems.  Rick Dehlinger

Rick Dehlinger brings over sixteen years of IT engineering, consulting, management, and enterprise experience to the community. In 1994, Rick began his career in the Citrix/Virtualization industry with a pioneering Citrix integrator in the Northwest. He 'cut his Windows Server teeth' on Citrix "South Beach" (which became WinFrame) and never looked back. He began teaching classes on Citrix in 1997, and was one of the inaugural Citrix Certified Instructors when the program was first formalized.

Rick joined Citrix in 1999 as a Systems Engineer, and quickly became one of the most trusted technologists in the Citrix community. He is known in the industry through uncommon outreach efforts such as the widely distributed 'Installation and Tuning Tips for Citrix MetaFrame' document, the CitrixNW support forum, Project Columbia, Project Willamette, TweakCitrix.com, and the Cal-AID Reference Design. He has also presented technical sessions at all but 2 of the main Citrix events over the years.

After a short stint as an employee at Microsoft, Rick co-founded iQurious, an software and services company, dedicated to bringing to market highly-standardized, change enabled, extremely reproducible information technology systems. He also actively participates in the Microsoft MVP Program for Windows Terminal Server and Citrix's Technology Professional (CTP) programs.

 Shawn Bass

Shawn Bass is an independent consultant that specializes in Server Based Computing technology. He has been involved in Citrix related technologies since the WinView product and has worked through each new version of Citrix’s products over the years. Most of Shawn’s consulting engagements are in the Fortune 500 space and many of them are in Financial Services and Insurance. He is an active poster in a variety of Citrix-related support forums. Shawn has presented sessions at several prior BriForum and PubForum conferences and was recognized by Citrix as one of their Citrix Technology Professionals in July 2006. (website)


 Michael Thomason

Michael Thomason is currently the chief technical architect for Emory Healthcare in Atlanta, GA, specializing in Citrix/Microsoft Terminal Services. He has over 15 years of experience in the computer industry specializing in systems management, desktop/server/application deployment, and systems automation. He is an author of numerous tools, utilities, and application delivery systems including DeployMagic (automatically build/provision/publish Citrix/Terminal Servers), IMAWatch (view IMA start process), DGS (disk geometry setup), BrandMagic (user profile management tool), RebootMagic (reboot tool specially designed for Terminal Servers), and VFS (Virtual File System). Michael created the “Virtual Desktop” at Emory Healthcare where all applications execute and run over terminal services and was a major driver of Emory Healthcare’s “virtual storage” project which offers users limitless storage.  Ruben Spruijt

Ruben Spruijt works as Solutions Architect at PQR, a major IT company that designs, implements en migrates advanced IT infrastructure and is a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, Citrix Platinum Solution Advisor, VMware Premier and Consultancy Partner in the Netherlands. In his job, Ruben is primary focussed on Application and Desktop Delivery, hardware and software virtualisation. He is a Citrix Certified Integration Architect (CCIA), Citrix Certified Enterprise Administrator (CCEA) and Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE+S). He is awarded with the Microsoft Most Value Professional (MVP)m Citrix Technology Professional (CTP) and RES Software Value Professional (RSVP). He is married with Jacoline, they have three kids from 8,5 and 2 years old. (website)


 Michael Burke

Mike is a virtual infrastructure engineer based in New Jersey and has been working with Citrix and Terminal Server products for 10 years. He currently works for CRI Technologies (Virtera) where he also focuses on designing and implementing virtual infrastructure solutions based on products and technologies from VMware, Microsoft, Softricity and various others. He has written several technical articles and is a frequent poster in the BrianMadden.com forums. (website)


 Jason Conger

Jason Conger started his Server Based Computing career working for a Citrix Platinum partner where he performed design and implementation projects for world-wide corporations, provided training for system administrators and people seeking certification, and presented numerous technical seminars through the Citrix channel. Jason later joined Citrix Systems, Inc. as a System Architect. While at Citrix, he designed and implemented Citrix Systems’ internal usage of Citrix products before the products were available to the public. He also presented these design strategies at Citrix customer-facing events such as iForum and Solution Summit.  Claudio Rodrigues

Claudio Rodrigues is a Senior Technical Architect/Consultant based in Ottawa, ON, Canada. He has been deploying Server Based Computing solutions since the OS/2-based, Citrix WinView days (circa 1995). Thanks to his contributions to the terminal services community, he was the first person to ever receive the Microsoft MVP award for Terminal Services.

He was the CEO of Terminal-Services.NET, the company that originally developed tools like WTSGateway Pro and WTSPortal, later acquired by 2X Software Ltd. His main idea was to bring easy to use, reliable and affordable tools to the server based computing market. Cláudio has also worked all over the world doing terminal services deployments and speaking at many different and interesting places.

After leaving 2X in February, 2006, he is now working on new and exciting products and ideas for the TS community at WTSLabs. On his spare time he manages to do consulting work, conducting on-site training, and speaking at several conferences. Now all he wants is to bring Brian Madden's training to Canada!

 Joe Shonk

With over 11 years in the business, Joe has worked with Citrix silver, gold, and platinum resellers doing project-based consulting for various companies in Arizona, California and New Mexico. Currently, he works with Thin Client Computing doing virtualization projects (Virtuozzo, VMware, Softgrid and Presentation Server) for medium-to-enterprise customers. (website)


 Nelly Porter

Nelly Porter is the Lead Program Manager for the Terminal Service Product Development team. Nelly has been at Microsoft for 5 years, 2 1/2 of which she has worked as a proud member of Terminal Server team. Prior to joining MS, she was a Developer and Architect with HP Labs, working on High Availability and Clustering, Print and all–in–one kernel drivers. Nelly also worked at Scitex, Israel, writing kernel drivers and firmware for multi-OS systems and devices to support high quality publishing rendering systems working in tandem with digital presses, plotters, and scanners.  Thorsten Rood

Thorsten is focussed on managed environments and has more than 15 years of experience in IT systems engineering. He has implemented large-scale installations for worldwide companies. Currently he is the principal architect at net.workers corporation, a german consultancy experts group where he is engaged on secure application delivery architecture, high-availablility and virtualization solutions. Responsible for designing, integrating, and troubleshooting "unattended datacenter setup" installations (typically leveraging Citrix Access Suite software and hardware), he combines his skills in programming with a deep knowledge on infrastructure and client applications. He's certified as MSCE/MCITP, CCEA/IA "early achiever" and is one of the first certified specialists on the new Windows Server 2008 product line even before its official availability.  Patrick Rouse

Patrick Rouse is a Sr. Sales Engineer for Quest Software, Provision Networks Division. He’s been a Microsoft MVP for Windows Terminal Services since 2003, and was a Citrix Technology Professional and Provision Networks VIP before joining Quest Software on January 1, 2008. Patrick has been working with Server based computing since 2000, and now focuses on Desktop Virtualization (VDI) and Windows Terminal Services. He’s previously presented at BriForum Europe 2006, has posted thousands of times on brianmadden.com Forums and Microsoft Terminal Services Newsgroups and now maintains the Official Provision Networks Blog with Michel Roth.  Steve Greenberg

Steve Greenberg is the founder of Thin Client Computing in Scottsdale, Arizona, a leading consulting group for advanced Server Based Computing, Virtualization and Streaming solutions. Active in Server Based Computing and Virtualization since 1992, Mr. Greenberg is a pioneer in advanced deployments of Presentation Server, Terminal Services and various Virtualization technologies. He is both a Microsoft MVP and a Citrix CTP. (website)


 Glenda Canfield

Glenda Canfield is a highly experienced enterprise SBC/Virtualization engineer with proven success in designing and supporting on-demand application data centers. Her experience includes large distributed datacenters with tens of thousands concurrent Citrix connections. She recently returned to Dallas, Texas to explore new opportunities. Her career in the virtualization space has consisted of working at HP in the R&D groups as a Core Engineer/Virtualization Architect on the Thin Client Team and later as the Virtualization Software Technical Program Manager (Desktop Solutions Organization at HP) for Thin Clients, Blade PC’s and Workstation Blades. She has been working with this technology for ten years in various roles, including being a Senior / Lead Citrix Engineer at Cingular Wireless for a 40k concurrent user farm for five years and a Senior Consultant and ultimately a Principal Consultant for a Platinum solution provider for 3 years. She is the current organizer of the Dallas Citrix User group and she is an ongoing contributor to BrianMadden.com, she presented at Citrix iForum 2007 and Citrix Summit 2008. (website)

 Navin Thadani

Navin R. Thadani is the Vice President of Product Management and Marketing at Qumranet. His team is responsible for the overall product strategy and future direction of Qumranet's products. Prior to Qumranet, Navin held several senior management positions at Cisco Systems where he led strategic initiatives around voice over IP and video in the Cable and Connected Home business units. Navin holds an MBA with Honors from The Wharton School of Business, an MS in Economics and Operations Research from Stanford University, and a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pune, India.  Martin Ingram

Martin is VP product strategy for AppSense, where he's responsible for understanding where the whole client computing market is going and deciding where AppSense should direct its products. He has a substantial history helping technology companies produce products that customers will want. He has been with AppSense for three years, previously having built companies around compliance and security including: Kalypton, MIMEsweeper, Baltimore Technologies, Tektronix and Avid. With a background in software engineering his focus is now mostly high level although he still gets occasional pangs to go cut some code. (website)


 Brian Duckering

Brian Duckering has twenty years of diverse industry experience developing and bringing innovative technologies to the SMB and enterprise market. Brian is responsible for product design and development of the award-winning AppStream platform, as well as forthcoming products from the new Symantec Endpoint Virtualization product group. He is highly skilled at enhancing products and services with innovative usability and productivity features. Prior to joining AppStream, Duckering held senior level positions at both corporate and consumer-facing companies including Recourse Technologies, Intellicorp and PTC. Mr. Duckering graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering. He then went on to earn a Master of Engineering degree in Robotic Design and Automatic Controls, while simultaneously completing the prestigious Management of Technology program at the Walter A.  Eric Musgrave

Eric Musgrave is VP of New Product Development at triCerat, Inc. He has worked at triCerat for seven years, where he has designed and led development of ScrewDrivers. Additionally, he is one of the core designers of the Simplify Suite and it's included technology. (website)


 Jason Davidson

Jason Davidson is Intel’s technical evangelist for their Emerging Compute Model program and runs a social community site at intel.com/go/emerge. Jason has been with Intel for nearly a decade, where he has done a wide variety of tasks – including coding, architecture, marketing, demonstrations, field/customer relationships, and management. Jason holds many U.S. patents, written several publications, delivered technical talks at venues around the world, and has contributed to multiple open source projects. Jason has a passion for combining technologies with usages to drive capabilities, and enjoys applying that to the compute models topics at BriForum 2008. (website)
